Before marrying Burchard Berlich, Barbara Hilliger, the Nth great grandmother of the Three Loeck Sisters, married Nicolaus Helffreich / Helffrich. He was born in 1594 and was baptized on 15th June in Leipzig the son of Georg and Anna Helfreich. He married Barbara Hilliger in 1630, at age 36 in Freiberg. Nicolaus died on 19th October 1645, at age 51. No children appear to have resulted from this marriage. We have created this Helffrich page in part because there are some striking images of the family which are worthy of display.
There are many traces of Nicolaus among the bibliographic records: Disputatio Inaugralis De Emtione-Venditione Quam … Decreto … Iure-consultorum ordinis … [1618] and Tractatus Physicomedicus, De Origine Formarum, Pro D. Daniele Sennerto … Contra D. Johannem … [1634]:
One record – Disputationem Iuridicam Inauguralem De Pecuniariorum Nominum Et Variis … [ 1629] by Benjamin Leuber includes various family members mentioned on this website such as: Gabriel Tuntzel / Tentsel and Volkmar II Happe as well as Nicolaus Hellfrich.
The portraits that follow are all Helffrich family members. They were probably executed well after the person depicted had died and thus are “recreations”. Each one contains the shield of the Helffrich family which depicts of all things an elephant facing either to the left or the right. How exactly each of these Helffriches is related to one and the other is not entirely clear.
